Kayoko Shimizu Hanano, 83, of Kapaau died Aug. 4 at North Hawaii Community Hospital. Born in Pepeekeo, she was a retired county account clerk and member of St. Augustine’s Episcopal Church in Kapaau, Kohala Senior Citizens and Na Kupuna O Kohala Halau. Services held. Survived by husband, James Hanano of Kapaau; sons, Jason (Stephanie) Hanano of Hawi and Keven (Cynthia) Hanano of Lihue, Kauai; daughters, Jennifer (John) Colson of Kula, Maui, and Kaky (Geoy) Purdy of Waimea; brother, Itsuji “Buster” Shimizu of Honolulu; sister, Nancy Nelson of Midland, Mich.; sister-in-law, Helen Shimizu of Hilo; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. The Rev. Jeremiah Luaiki Hoaeae Sr., 66, of Honaunau died July 31 at Straub Hospital in Honolulu.
